Warm season turf grasses (Bermuda, St. Augustine, etc.) are aerated in the late-Spring / early-Summer. Cool season turf grasses (Tall Fescue) are aerated and overseeded in the Fall.

What does the aeration / overseeding process entail?

Lawn preparation: the lawn is prepared by mowing it to a low level, bagging the clippings, and using a dethatcher to remove accumulated thatch from the area.

Aeration: the next step is to aerate the lawn. We run the aerator across the lawn in 2 directions to ensure maximum coverage.

Overseeding: we use commercial power equipment to seed your lawn. Sometimes referred to as "power seeders" or "slit seeders," these machines provide the greatest chance of successful germination and survivability of turf grass shoots by depositing the grass seed in "grooves" or "slits" directly in the soil. This seed-to-soil contact gives the seed the best chance of success in growing. We additionally use commercial broadcast spreaders to ensure maximum seed coverage of your space.

Do you offer top dressing services for the lawn?

Yes! As an add-on service we offer top-dressing of your freshly seeded lawn with screened topsoil. The topsoil is applied after the application of grass seed. We use rollers to smooth the topsoil down after it has been spread, which enhances the seed-to-soil contact and encourages successful germination.
